I would guess that it might be possible to package Sky UI into something that can be put on the workshop. Wether or not it will allow use of dll's is the issue I think here. Now The creation kit as far as I know "does its work" only inside of the data folder. What's the point? There's me thinking that it'd be great if we all worked together, but apparently people just prefer things difficult and divided.

Yes, trying to run more than one interface mod is stupid.

Anything more sophisticated (which I imagine is the majority of people) will have to move to the old, "non-standard" tools.

I could be wrong, but I think the steam workshop will be for people who want to cautiously add a dozen or so mods, and occasionally change a couple of them or update them. OTOH, even if they mess things up, I'm pretty confident that people will figure out ways to work around it. I'm hoping that the integration or use of the steam workshop won't mess up the ability to use these mods and mod management utilities.īashed patches, for example, are an absolute requirement for using a large number of mods, so anything that causes trouble with that is damaging to the community. I'm just about 100% sure that a lot of mod or meta-mod categories (script dragon, skse, sky ui, wrye bash, nmm, etc) will not work with the steam workshop. There will probably be issues, but I'm hoping that we can just ignore the steam workshop and go about our business. Most of us have been doing this for a long time, and it really isn't hard to pick up.Īndrew Tarango Posts: 3454 Joined: Wed 10:07 am It's all about using basic common sense when it comes to this stuff.

So you just choose one Inventory mod, or wait until the creators of it acknowledges that it is compatible or releases a patch to make it compatible. SkyUI won't play well with other things that edit how the menus look, but the same would be said if you had two mods that edit how strong Trolls are. So all you need to do is acknowledge that people will need the SKSE if you submit a mod to the Steam Workshop. So you can run any normal mod with the SKSE with no problem, but you WILL need SKSE to run any mod that requires it.

dll files and enables the extra scripting options into the program you want when it opens it. You activate the SKSE.exe for the CK or for Skyrim, it injects the. The CK uses it's functions the same way that Skyrim does. The SKSE has existed long before Skyrim, as the OBSE and the Fallout SE, possibly even for Morrowind as well (not sure on that one). However I would advise you only use one, just in case.

Mylizards Dot com Posts: 3379 Joined: Fri 1:59 pmīethesda has already acknowledged that you don't have to use the Steam Workshop to install mods, you can use The Nexus Mod Manager or even do it manually, or any combination. *frequently used four letter word that is apparently off-limits on this forum despite the age rating of this game It's not like we're secretly funding Republican presidential candidates here, right?Īs such, can we get some official agreement on these things? Because just ignoring them is going to be the mother of all *-ups.Ĥ) Everyone wants the Creation Kit to be available sometime soon.ĥ) Talking in public about issues that you're having when reconciling these things is a good thing, given that the alternative is going to be pissing a lot of people off I'm guessing that the people at Valve and Bethesda who are putting together these systems are aware of this- I'd just like to see them talk about it publicly. SKSE and SkyUI change things that the Creation Kit probably won't even touch, and as such they're not going to play well with the Steam Workshop. However, I can see that there's going to be a certain amount of tension between them. I would very much like to be able to run them all at once in a way that doesn't involve a massive and depressing division within the community. Let me just point out that all of these things are great. I've got this horrible feeling these aren't all going to play well together, and there's no acknowledgement of this anywhere online.
